Q: A woman at my health club always holds on the exercise equipment long after she’s finished with it. She lounges on the stationary bike, grabs a dumbbell and keeps it at her side when she isn’t using it, etc. She annoys others as well as me. What can we say to her?
A: When you need to use the equipment, just say, “I’m sure you don’t realize it, but you’re tying up the bike (or dumbbell) and I’d like to use it. If she’s uncooperative, ask someone from the staff to talk to her about complying with club guidelines.
