Rest Room Pecking Order: When is bypassing the line allowed?

Q: In a public bathroom, is it okay for my disabled mother-she uses a walker-to bypass a long line and go directly to the handicapped stall, or should she wait until she reaches the front and it becomes available?

A: We can only hope that the other women waiting will encourage your mother to go to the head of the line, but if they don’t, she should just walk to the front, excusing herself as goes by saying, “Pardon me, may I please get through?”  Of course, if you’re with your mom, you still have to wait your turn.
